Makoto Watanabe,
Editor-in-Chief of the Waseda Chronicle

The Waseda Chronicle is just a small organization, but we want to become your eyes, ears and mouths and take steps toward advancing investigative journalism.

Our purpose is to conduct non-profit journalism. We will be relying on your financial contributions to achieve that goal.

Journalism inevitably requires funds to gather information and convey it to the public. However, money sometimes comes with strings attached. Investigative journalism must be financially independent in order to act as a watchdog of state, financial, and societal power.

Students also participate in our project. We provide a space for university students to gather information under the supervision of professional journalists and gain hands-on experience. Your contributions will also help support our activities to educate these students.

We also plan to collaborate with media organizations in Japan and abroad.

In order to achieve our goals, we are asking for monthly contributions of at least 1,000 yen (roughly $10). If you become our supporter, you’ll be an integral part of our object to make the world a better, fairer place, for everyone. We appreciate your support.

Our project depends on member contributions and donations for its operation. We have started a crowdfunding campaign in order to continue covering important stories.

We appreciate your support.
